UNLEASH Europe 2026 Innovation Lab: SOLUTIONS FOR EUROPE'S BUILT ENVIRONMENT
UNLEASH Europe 2026 brought 200+ young changemakers from 35 Europe countries to Copenhagen for a week-long innovation lab dedicated to one of the defining challenges of our time: the built environment.
Hosted by UNLEASH in partnership with BLOXHUB, the Nordic hub for sustainable urbanization, the program guided participants - Talents, Facilitators and Experts - through problem framing, ideation and rapid prototyping, working in teams across four thematic tracks.
Key themes included:
Circular Futures - scaling circularity in building practices
The Just Green Transition - making sustainable cities livable, affordable and accessible
Rapidly Changing Environments - enabling adaptation in Arctic and remote regions
Thriving Cities - designing urban spaces that support health and well-being
I opened the Lab as MC of the Opening Ceremony at Copenhagen City Hall, hosting speakers including Prof. Flemming Besenbacher (Chairperson, UNLEASH Board), Jackie Stenson (MD, UNLEASH), Jens Wandel (UN Under-Secretary-General) and Ditte Lysgaard Vind (BLOXHUB).
I closed the week as host of the Pitch Finals at the National Museum of Denmark, where eight finalist teams pitched before a jury of Philip Højberg Unge (Home Earth), Ditte Lysgaard Vind (BLOXHUB), Jakob Strømann-Andersen (Henning Larsen) and Ida Bigum (KAB), competing for the Most Innovative, Most Impactful and People's Choice awards in front of an audience of 250.
